Cleaning sculptures in scenic areas requires specialized tools tailored to their materials to avoid scratches, corrosion, or structural damage caused by improper tools. Below is a list of recommended cleaning tools for sculptures of different materials, optimized for outdoor environments (such as rain and high salt spray):

1. General-purpose basic tools (suitable for most materials)

Lint-free soft cloth/microfiber cloth: Used to wipe surface dust and water stains, preventing scratches from fiber residue.

Soft brush (natural bristles or nylon): Cleans dust accumulated in crevices and grooves, avoiding friction from hard objects.

Medical cotton balls/cotton swabs: For small areas or stubborn stains, such as oxidation spots on bronze sculptures or moss in stone crevices.

Low-pressure sprayer: Evenly sprays neutral detergent, improving cleaning efficiency over large areas and reducing liquid residue.

It is recommended to equip a retractable long-handled brush for easy cleaning of sculptures at heights, reducing the risk of working at heights.

2. Stone Sculptures (Marble, Granite, Sandstone, etc.)

Soft-bristled brush + sponge combination: After removing surface dust, gently wipe stains with a sponge dampened with neutral detergent.

Special stone cleaner: Avoid using household cleaners containing acid or alkali to prevent loss of shine or powdering.

Protective equipment: Rubber gloves and goggles to prevent water splashes or chemical contact with skin during cleaning.

Auxiliary tools: Small absorbent towel to promptly dry grout lines and prevent mold growth.

3. Metal Sculptures (Bronze, Stainless Steel)

Special care cloth for stainless steel sculptures: Contains a small amount of polishing agent to remove fingerprints and oil films, restoring a mirror-like shine.

Diluted neutral detergent + microfiber sponge: The first choice for daily stain removal; never use steel wool or chlorine bleach.

Anti-salt spray cleaner (suitable for coastal areas): Prevents chloride ion corrosion that causes pitting and rust.

Plastic scraper (soft): Cleans up adhering bird droppings, resin, and other organic dirt, avoiding metal scraping.
